Posted by: | Comments
There are so many free career resources out there on the web that people just don’t know about or haven’t taken the time to find and utilize. I know job searching is tough; sometimes we just get sick of it and want to throw in the towel. You can’t do that though. You have to get creative with your job search and figure out how to keep going!
I’m always surprised at speaking engagements when I mention the O*NET database and most of the people in the room haven’t heard of it. Career transition can be tough guys. You have to get creative with the resources at your disposal. There are so many more out there that you just probably don’t know about. The O*NET database and website is one of them. The latest job market trends to help your job search
Posted by: | Comments
I receive regular job market updates from Indeed.com. This is a job search website I send all of my clients to. I highly recommend this site, so please bookmark as a helpful resource for your job search. My career coaching client, Paul, said these job search notifications are the most helpful he has subscribed to. You will receive less junk and more quality job postings.
This is the June report for job market/industry trends:
Indeed.com industry employment trends, a leading indicator for the job market, show online job postings were relatively unchanged in June.
Highlights:
-
- Real estate job postings increased for the first time in 2011
- Manufacturing job postings slowed
- Retail declined slightly over the prior month
Further analysis and detailed June Industry Employment Trends are available on the Indeed Blog.
Another feature of Indeed.com is a helpful salary tool to see the salary ranges for the industries you’re researching. If you are interested in receiving additional help with your job search, please contact us to learn more about our services today.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Posted by: | CommentsThis is a great inspirational quote that I wanted to share for this Valentine’s Day.
Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.
~Robert Heinlein quotes
Love is more than romance and flowers; it’s a constant desire for the one you love to be truly happy. When somebody you love is going through career struggles, they are not the only ones being affected by it. It takes a toll on everyone who is involved in their life. Is there someone you love this Valentine’s Day that is in career transition, lost in their job search, or unhappy with their career? If you know somebody in this situation, consider a gift that will truly bring happiness to their life.
Many of our career coaching clients have received our career services as a gift from loved ones. They all say it was one of the best gifts they ever received. Flowers die, and chocolate certainly doesn’t last (at least not in my house). This might be the best gift you can give your loved one. You are showing how much you really value them, by helping them take a step to improve their life.
One of the best things I ever did for my brother was buy him Hallie’s service as a gift for his birthday. After years of struggling with his career, Hallie worked with him to formulate a plan and she was there every step of the way to help him execute that plan. He has landed a job he is excited about with a great future. He is happier, more motivated and confident. Hallie was critical to making this happen, I highly recommend her services to anyone looking to help a family member or friend.

Hallie Recommends CareerEco – Green Jobs
Posted by: | CommentsI recently had the opportunity to learn more about CareerEco and found it to be a great source of information for people who are interested in finding a green job. CareerEco focuses on job employment for those who are interested in having eco-minded careers. There is a growing desire among job seekers to be using their talents to help both the environment and economy, especially for younger job seekers such as college grads. In this day and age young adults are learning more and more about how important it is to be eco-minded, which gives all the more reason to have a job that thrives with that mindset.
The founder and CEO of CareerEco, Gayle Oliver-Plath, was interviewed on CNN where she provided some quick tips on how to get your foot in the door for green jobs. In her interview, she suggests doing what you can to get an internship in a green company. Getting a foot in the door is a good first step. She also recommends that job seekers get involved in professional associations focused around green jobs and eco-minded careers. The helps job seekers, especially college grads, build a network with people who are involved in eco-minded industries.
CareerEco’s online community provides members with opportunities to:
- Learn – Find out about job hunting strategies, career opportunities, and educational programs withing green, clean technology, and sustainability.
